Shares inch up on the rally of blue-chips

HÀ NỘI — Shares moved up a little on Thursday morning thanks to the rally of some individual pillar stocks.

The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange gained 0.1 per cent to end at 855.29 points.

It had lost 0.20 per cent to close Wednesday at 854.44 points.

Nearly 157 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth nearly VND2.2 trillion (US$95 million).

The blue-chip share tracker VN30-Index dropped 0.04 per cent to 796.11 points.

Four-teen of the 30 largest stocks by market valuation and trading liquidity decreased while eleven increased.

Among gainers were Vietcombank (VCB), Vinhomes (VHM), Viet Nam National Petroleum Group (PLX) and Vietnam Electrical Equipment Joint Stock Corporation (GEX).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index was down 0.75 per cent to close Thursday morning at 112.41 points.

It had lost 1.92 per cent to close Wednesday at 113.27 points.

More than 30 million shares were traded on the northern bourse, worth nearly VND244 billion.
