Shares rose on Monday morning thanks to the gains of stocks in the energy sectors.
On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index posted a gain of 0.31 per cent, to 1,172.37 points.
The market breadth was positive with 283 stocks climbing, while 159 stocks declined.
The gain was thanks to the growth of pillar stocks. The 30 large-cap tracker VN30-Index increased 0.14 per cent, to 1,175.51 points. Six-teen of 30 large-cap stocks rose, while only 12 decreased.
During the morning session, nearly 433 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth over VNĐ10 trillion.
The market was strongly supported by the energy sector, including PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS), Viet Nam National Petroleum Group (PLX), PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Services Corporation (PVD), PetroVietnam Power Corp (POW), and PetroVietnam Technical Services (PVS).
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange (HXN), the HXN-Index also rose 1.71 per cent to reach 264.24 points. VNS
