The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased 0.25 per cent to close at 935.97 points.
It had gained 0.89 per cent to close trading at 933.68 points.
More than 180 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth VND3.2 trillion (US$115 million).
Market breadth was positive with 156 decliners and 243 gainers.
The VN30-Index, which tracks the performance of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation and liquidity on HoSE, increased 0.47 per cent to close Monday at 903.48 points.
In the VN-30 basket, 16 stocks gained ground, ten decreased and four remained flat.
Gainers in the group included Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BID), Military bank (MBB), Mobile World Group (MWG), FPT Corporation (FPT), PV Power (POW), Techcombank (TCB), VPBank (VPB) and Vincom Retail (VRE).
The minor HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange increased 1.15 per cent to end Tuesday morning at 138.45 points.
It had increased 1.13 per cent to end Monday at 136.87 points.
Nearly 25 million shares were traded on the northern exchange, worth VND378.5 billion.
