The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange gained 1.85 per cent to end the morning session at 1,095.41 points.
Nearly 441.8 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth VNĐ8.8 trillion (US$382.7 million).
The large-cap tracker VN30-Index was up 1.97 per cent to 1,100.93 points.
Twenty seven of the 30 large-cap stocks in the VN30 basket increased while 2 declined.
A number of blue-chips attracted cash flow such as Vietinbank (CTG), FPT Corporation (FPT), PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS), Masan Group (MSN), Vietcombank (VCB), Vinamilk (VNM), Sabeco (SAB), VPBank (VPB), HDBank (HDB) and Techcombank (TCB).
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index rose 1.69 per cent to 218.99 points.
Nearly 72.5 million shares were traded on the northern market, worth VNĐ937.5 billion.
