Vietnamese shares gained on Friday morning as the large-caps in the energy sector were spurred by buying forces.
The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange rose 0.52 per cent to end morning session at 1,036.31 points.
Nearly 258.9 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth VND5.8 trillion (US$252.2 million).
The large-cap tracker VN30-Index was up 0.52 per cent to 999.46 points.
Twenty three of the 30 large-cap stocks in the VN30 basket increased while three declined.
Energy stocks attracted cash flow. Among the gainers were PV Gas (GAS), PetroVietnam Drilling and Wells Services (PVD), PetroVietnam Technical Services (PVS) and PetroVietnam Southern Gas (PGS).
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index rose 1.50 per cent to 161.69 points.
More than 36 million shares were traded on the northern market, worth VNĐ497 billion.
