The market rose strongly on Tuesday morning thanks to a strong continuous injection of cash flow into banking stocks.
On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the market benchmark VN-Index rose 0.44 per cent to 1,412.03 points. The market's breadth was positive as 179 stocks increased while 214 declined.
Some 377 million shares were traded on the southern market, worth over VND12.2 trillion.
Bank stocks still led the market's trend, with gainers including Sacombank (STB), Vietinbank (CTG), Tiên Phong Bank (TPB), Bank for Investment and Development (BID), VPBank (VPB), MBBank (MBB), Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) and Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB).
The VN30-Index rose 0.72 per cent in the morning session to 1,532.42 points. The gain was also boosted by some large-cap stocks as 18 of the 30 biggest stocks in the VN30 basket rose, while 10 decreased.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange (HNX), the HNX Index gained 0.53 per cent to 324.82 points. VNS
