Shares extend losing streak

HA NOI - Shares continued to slide during this morning's session.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index lost another 0.85 per cent, dropping to 500.51 points.

Trading soon turned sluggish in comparison to yesterday, totalling only VND452.24 billion (US$21.3 million) on a volume of 25.6 million shares.

The VN30, representing the performance of the top 30 stocks, also fell 0.77 per cent to reach 553.25 points.

Only Eximbank (EIB), Becamex Infrastructure (IJC) and PetroVietnam Finance (which hit its ceiling price) formed a rally, while 24 others tumbled.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index shed 0.5 per cent to 62.34 points. The HNX30, composed of the exchange's 30 largest shares in terms of capitalisation and liquidity, dropped 0.75 per cent to 116.23 points.

Only 10.9 million shares were transacted, worth a meagre value of VND86.35 billion ($4 million). - VNS
