Shares continue to slide

HA NOI (Biz Hub)- The VN-Index on the HCM City Stock Exchange lost 1.1 per cent yesterday to hit 490.68 points. Losers outnumbered gainers by 94-58.

Trading value, however, increased by about VND100 billion (US$4.7 million) compared to yesterday morning's level to nearly VND487 billion ($22.9 million). Trading volume reached 23.9 million shares.

The VN30, tracking the southern city's top 30 shares, retreated another 0.86 per cent to 544.83 points.

Only four of the stocks it tracks managed to rally. Meanwhile, 23 others slumped, notably insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), property developer Vingroup (VIC) and Vinamilk (VNM).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the benchmark HNX-Index slid 0.03 per cent to 61.83 points. The HNX30, representing the bourse's 30 largest shares by capitalisation and liquidity, also fell 0.05 per cent to 114.88 points.

With around 11 million shares changing hands, trading value totalled VND91.5 billion ($4.3 million). - VNS
