HA NOI (Biz Hub) — National stocks fell this morning but the trading value remained high.
On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the benchmark VN-Index lost 0.51 per cent to reach 602.32 points. The VN30 Index, tracking the bourse's 30 largest shares in capitalisation and liquidity, also retreated 0.42 per cent to close at 639.26 points.
The overall value of trades was more than VND1 trillion (US$47.2 million), with 51.3 million shares changing hands.
However, the blue chips in banking stocks, including Vietinbank (CTG), Eximbank (EIB), Military Bank (MBB), bucked the trend and made gains.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index dropped 0.48 per cent to close at 80.55 points. The trading value and volume reached VND284.1 billion ($13.4 million) and 23.8 million shares, respectively.
Blue chips failed to boost the northern market, with the HNX30 Index falling 0.45 per cent to end at 161.80 points. — VNS
