Shares gained on Wednesday morning thanks to the growth of large-cap stocks.
On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the market benchmark VN-Index rose 0.41 per cent to 1,415.78 points. The market's breadth was positive as 173 stocks increased while 203 declined.
Some 332 million shares were traded on the southern market, worth over VND12 trillion.
VN-Index's gaining momentum was further widened thanks to pillar stocks like Vietcombank (VCB), Vingroup (VIC), Vincom Retail (VRE) and Vinhomes (VHM).
Vietcombank (VCB) increased by 2.7 per cent to VND117,100 per share, Vingroup (VIC) rose by 2.2 per cent to VND120,600 per share, Vincom retail (VRE) increased by 1.9 per cent to VND32,300 per share, Vinhomes (VHM) gained by 1.3 per cent to VND120,100 per share.
The VN30-Index rose 0.39 per cent in the morning session to 1,535.96 points. The gain was also boosted by some large-cap stocks as 15 of the 30 biggest stocks in the VN30 basket rose, while 11 decreased.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange (HNX), the HNX Index lost 0.20 per cent to 323.14 points. VNS
