HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Shares opened high on both stock exchanges this morning but tended to decline toward the end of the session as investors became more cautious after the downward correction yesterday afternoon.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index ended 0.86 per cent down on 64.33 points while rises of blue chips helped lift the VN-Index on the HCM City Stock Exchange up 0.12 per cent to 517.65 points.

The VN30 tracking the top 30 shares by market capitalisation and liquidity on the southern bourse was also up 0.29 per cent at 582.60 points.

A total of 68 million shares worth a combined VND963 billion (about US$46 million) were traded on both markets.

According to many stock analysts, the market outlook is still positive in the medium term and it is not likely that investors will sell shares at low prices.

Tan Tao Investment Industry (ITA) was the most active code on the HCM City bourse with 6.4 million shares changing hands at the value of VND7,700 a share. Meanwhile, Sai Gon-Ha Noi Bank (SHB) is leading the northern market on trades of 3.7 million shares, declining 1.4 per cent at VND7,300 a share. — VNS
