Shares rose in both local markets on Tuesday morning on high investor confidence and gains of energy stocks.

The benchmark VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange rose 0.3 per cent to close at 727.50 points. It had fallen slightly on Monday.

The HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange gained 0.56 per cent to end at 91.62 points. The northern market index had increased by a total of 1.3 per cent in the previous two sessions.

Positive investor confidence resulted in remarkably strong market trading liquidity, with around 219 million shares worth VND3.73 trillion (US$165.8 million) being traded.

Property developers continued to attract a large part of the investment, occupying the fifth position among the top 10 most active stocks on the southern bourse.

FLC Group (FLC) and Hoang Quan Consultancy-Trading-Service Real Estate (HQC) were the two most active stocks, with a trading volume of 25 million and 15.3 million shares, respectively. On Tuesday morning, FLC jumped 5.8 per cent, while HQC hit its daily trading limit of 6.7 per cent.

Energy stocks rose on recent rise of oil prices. Brent Crude was up 0.3 per cent to trade at around $52 a barrel on Tuesday morning.
