ROS hits ceiling, VN-Index rebounds

Shares rebounded on the HCM Stock Exchange on Tuesday morning but still moved into negative territory on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange.

The VN-Index edged up 0.35 per cent to 822.87 points, driven by the recovery of several large-cap stocks.

Sixteen of the top 30 largest stocks by market value and liquidity on the HCM Stock Exchange advanced and 10 declined.

FLC Faros Construction's stock (ROS) was the biggest gainer, rising by the daily maximum limit of seven per cent at VND161,300 (US$7.11) per share. This is the 19th consecutive session of increase for the stock, with cumulative growth of 52.6 per cent.

Besides ROS, many large companies also recovered, including Vinamilk (VNM), Vietcombank (VCB), Military Bank (MBB) and FPT Corp (FPT), as well as Hoa Phat Group (HPG), PV Gas (GAS) and PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services (PVD).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index continued to decrease by 0.1 per cent to end at 106.13 points.

Overall market condition on the northern bourse was negative with 91 stocks falling, 61 rising and 216 remaining unchanged.

Liquidity soared with nearly 132 million shares worth a combined VND4.85 trillion ($213.6 million) traded on the two markets, a two-fold increase over Monday morning’s trading value.
