Nikkei 225 shines with highest close since 2007

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Nikkei 225 gained 11.20 points on Friday to reach 15,870.42, its highest close since Dec 2007, though the Topix Index (TPX) slipped 1.43 points to finish at 1,261.64 in Tokyo.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index (HSI) lost 76.57 points to close at 22,812.18, while the Chinese benchmark Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index (SHCOMP) lost 43.00 points to finish at 2,084.79.

In the southeast, the Straits Times Index (STI) rose 24.25 points to finish at 3,091.9 in Singapore, but two bourses in Vietnam ended lower. The VN Index lost 1.83 points to finish at 504.45 in HCM City and the Ha Noi HNX Index declined 0.12 points to end at 67.50 in the capital city.— VNS
