HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Nikkei 225 achieved a milestone by closing over 18,000 on February 16, the highest level in the last eight years.
The Nikkei 225 added 91.41 points to close at 18,004.77, while the Topix Index gained 10.05 points to close at 1,459.43 in Tokyo.
The Hang Seng Index jumped 43.99 points to reach 24,726.53 in Hong Kong, while the Shanghai Composite Index gained 18.54 points to close at 3,222.36 in mainland China.
Meanwhile, the Strait Times Index also gained 0.94 points to end at 3,427.16 in Singapore.
The two bourses in Viet Nam are closed for the Lunar New Year, so the VN Index stayed unchanged at 587.24, while the HNX had closed at 85.26.— VNS
