National stocks sink in the red

HA NOI – Shares tumbled on both of the nation's stock exchanges with declining trading values.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index retreated 0.16 per cent to 523.74 points.

Losers slightly overwhelmed gainers by 88-82.

The VN30, which represents the performance of 30 leading stocks in HCM City, also slipped 0.2 per cent to 582.90 points. Among the blue chips, 14 stocks advanced while 11 dropped points, but the falls of the biggest share – property developer Vingroup (VIC) – weighed on the index.

Market value on the southern bourse stayed at VND669.6 billion (US$31.8 million) as nearly 39.4 million shares changed hands.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index shed 0.23 per cent, reaching 65.45 points.

Trading value fell dramatically compared to yesterday morning, standing at VND196.8 billion ($9.3 million).

The HNX30, composed of the northern exchange's top shares, lost just 0.06 per cent to 126.39 points. – VNS
