Markets close lower in morning trade


Stocks posted losses on both the national stock exchanges this morning as the blue chips weighed down the benchmark indices.

HA NOI(Biz Hub) — Stocks posted losses on both the national stock exchanges this morning as the blue chips weighed down the benchmark indices.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index lost 1.21 points or as much as 0.2 per cent to end at 602.04 points.

The trading volume and value were more than 72 million shares and VND1.4 trillion, or US$66.7 million, respectively.

Most of the southern bourse's largest stocks by capitalisation and liquidity ended in the red this morning.

The companies which suffered huge losses included the Kinh Do Corporation which lost  VND3,000, or $0.014, per share; Vinamilk which lost VND2,000, or $0.098, per share; and the Hoa Sen Group which closed lower at VND1,000, or $0.047, per share.

With the losers outnumbering the gainers by 14-5, the VN30-Index ended at 669.59 points, dropping 0.37 per cent. The PetroVietnam Low Pressure Gas Distribution, Sai Gon Securities and Sacombank were among the gainers.

On the Ha Noi Exchange, the HNX-Index slid 0.2 per cent to close at 87.65 points, while the HNXFF-Index lost 0.4 per cent to finish at 88.91 points. Tracking the northern bourse's top stocks, the HNX30-Index dropped 0.56 per cent to end at 182.81 points.

About 36.6 million shares changed hands with a total value of VND504 billion, or $24 million. —VNS
