The market benchmark VN-Index declined on Thursday morning, while the HXN-Index surged.

On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index decreased by 0.09 per cent to 1,160.94 points. The market breadth was negative with 272 stocks going down, while 161 stocks climbed.

The result was due to the losses of many big stocks.

The VN30-Index, which tracks the 30 biggest stocks in the southern bourse, finished the morning session at 1,164.47 points, down 0.23 per cent. Of 30 large-cap stocks in the VN30 basket, twenty stocks slid while only nine stocks increased.

Stocks from banking, construction and production sectors influenced the market's downward trend in the morning session.

These stocks were Vinhome JSC (VHM), down 0.78 per cent, VPBank (VPB), down 1.64 per cent, Vietnam Dairy Products JSC (VNM), down 0.66 per cent, Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (CTG), down 0.38 per cent, and Investment And Industrial Development Corporation (BCM), down 1.53 per cent.

Meanwhile, on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HXN-Index rose more than 3 per cent on Thursday morning to 245.09 points. The HXN30-Index also edged higher to 361.17 points. VNS
