Major markets shut for holiday, others end mixed


Major Asian stock market indices remained unchanged on Tuesday because they were closed for holidays, but some other indices recorded mixed results.

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Major Asian stock market indices remained unchanged on Tuesday because they were closed for holidays, but some other indices recorded mixed results.

In Japan, the market was closed for the Greenery Day. The Nikkei 225 stayed at 14,457.51 and the Topix Index at 1,182.48. As Hong Kong was also closed on the occasion of the Buddha's birthday, the Hang Seng Index stayed at yesterday's score of 21,976.33.

Meanwhile, the Shanghai Composite Index added 0.68 point to finish at 2,028.04 in China. The Straits Times Index also added 6.35 points to end at 3,247.9 in Singapore.

Both the bourses in Viet Nam continued to post losses. The VN Index fell by 9.74 points to close at 555.11 in HCM City, and the HNX Index lost 0.82 points to end at 76.55 in the capital city. — VNS
