HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Japanese indexes closed flat in the market on August 18. The Nikkei 225 added 4.26 points to reach 15,322.60, and the Topix Index closed up 2.46 points to end the day at 1,271.26.
The Hang Seng Index slipped 10.26 points to reach 24944.68 in Hong Kong, where tens of thousands of people had gathered in sweltering heat the previous day to protest against a pro-democracy campaign.
The Straits Times Index also lost 1.99 points to end the day at 3,312.8 in Singapore.
The Shanghai Composite Index added 12.73 points to finish at 2,239.47 in mainland China. The Vietnamese markets also ended higher. The VN index rose by 0.84 points to close at 605.08 and the HNX gained 0.91 points to finish at 83.14 in the capital city. — VNS
