Major Asian markets end lower

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Asian share prices fell on January 16.

The Nikkei 225 closed down 244.54 points to stand at 16,864.16, while the Topix Index declined by 12.87 points to end the day at 1,363.73.

The Hang Seng Index lost 247.39 points to close at 24,103.52 in Hong Kong. The Straits Times Index edged down by 38.16 points to end at 3,300.68 in Singapore.

The VN Index slipped by 2.93 points to close at 574.81, while the HNX also lost 0.53 points to finish at 84.35.

As an exception, the Shanghai Composite Index added 40.04 points to reach 3,376.50 in mainland China.  — VNS
