Local buyers lift shares

-HA NOI (Biz Hub)– Shares opened low on the two national stock exchanges this morning, but strong buys in speculative stocks helped the market close in the green.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index added one per cent to settle the morning's session at 519.80 points, while the VN30 tracking the top 30 shares by market capitalisation and liquidity was also up 0.82 per cent at 582.04 points.

Nearly 46 million shares, worth VND774.3 billion (about US$37 million), were traded by the end of the morning.

Tan Tao Investment Industry Corp (ITA) continued to lead trades on the southern market. Nearly four million shares changing hands at a value of VND7,800 a share.

Vietinbank (CTG) became the second most active code on trades of 3.25 million shares following the news that the bank on Tuesday increased the room for foreign holdings from 12.79 per cent to 30 per cent. CTG rose nearly 5 per cent to VND19,400 a share ($0.92).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also edged 0.29 per cent up at 64.73 points on a market value of VND212 billion ($10.1 million).

Sai Gon-Ha Noi Bank (SHB) was again the most active code on trades of over 4.4 milllion shares, growing 1.4 per cent to VND7,400 a share. – VNS
