Investors in China stung by Thursday losses

HA NOI (Biz Hub) —While Japanese Nikkei 225 led a jump in the Asian sharemarkets on Thursday, stocks closed lower for investors in China.

Gaining 119.37 points, Nikkei 225 closed at 14,586.51 while the compatriot Topix Index (TPX) also added 9.47 points to finish at 1,206.25.

The Hang Seng Index (HSI) slid 133.09 points to close at 23,095.24, while the benchmark Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index (SHCOMP) fell 4.53 points to 2,188.54.

In Viet Nam, the market recorded higher scores with the HNX Index gaining 0.23 points to end at 61.36 in the capital city, while the VN Index added 0.63 points to end at 499.59 in HCM City.

Meanwhile, the Straits Times Index (STI) in Singapore also gained 12.50 points to finish at 3,186.5. — VNS
