HCM City needs to speed up equitisation of its 39 State-owned enterprises over the course of this year and next, Le Thanh Liem, deputy chairman of its People's Committee, said.
A national plan called for equitising 64 State-owned enterprises, including the citys 39, but it was unable to equitise any last year.
It has been delayed because issues like the role of state-owned enterprises in implementing development plans and valuation of assets situated in the citys downtown remain unresolved, Liem said.
The Government has amended its equitisation and divestment plans for 2018-20 and after 2020.
The city will now equitise 32 enterprises in this year instead of 39 in 2018, and the remaining seven by 2020.
Liem said the Peoples Committee would focus on improving management of local SOEs and reviewing policies related to SOEs and State capital and asset management.
To effectively use revenues from equitisation and divestment, the city would implement measures related to SOE rearrangement and equitisation, he added. — VNS
