HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The local gold price added VND160,000 (US$7.6), per tael, while the world gold price reached a three-week high on April 14.

In the local market, one tael of the state-owned SJC gold was sold at 35.96 million($1,712) higher than last week's price at the Saigon Jewellery Company.

On the global trading floor kitco.com, gold was listed at $1,326.20 per ounce or $1,597 per tael, an increase of $86 per tael compared with last week.

According to the media, the mounting geopolitical tensions in Ukraine curbed investor appetite for risk, sending equities lower and boosting bullion's safe-haven appeal.

Thus, each tael of gold in Viet Nam was $133 higher than in the world market.

In the same day, Vietcombank sold a dollar for VND21,120, which was 5 dong higher than last week, while the other banks did not change the dollar rate of VND21,115.— VNS
