Gold price fell in SBV 58th auction

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The market gold price declined VND300,000($14) per tael on Thursday when the State Bank of Viet Nam resumed its gold auctions after not holding one last week.

In total, 20,000 taels of gold were offered in the 58th auction, in which 15 credit institutions bought 19,900 taels at VND37.94-38.00 million ($1,806-1,809) per tael.

Saigon Jewellery Company (SJC) posted gold prices of VND37.65-37.90 million ($1,792-1,804) on its website at 3pm.

The global price also fell to $1,343.4 per ounce, or $1,618.7 a tael, on the kitco.com trading floor, leaving gold prices in Viet Nam $186 per tael higher than global rates.

Since the first SBV gold auction in March, the bank has sold over 1.5 million taels or 59 tonnes of gold.— VNS
