Vietnamese shares kept growing on Tuesday morning, driven by large-cap companies.
The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange gained 0.66 per cent to 958.29 points.
The southern bourse rose 1.46 per cent on Monday.
Large-cap stocks boosted the southern market in the morning session.
The blue-chip tracker VN30-Index was up 0.72 per cent to 924.03 points.
Twenty-one of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation and trading liquidity increased while five declined.
Among large-cap gainers were aviation firm Vietjet (VJC), Vincom Retail (VRE), SSI Securities (SSI), PetroVietnam Gas (GAS) and HDBank (HDB).
Positive growth of large-cap companies drove mid-cap and small-cap sectors up, which added 0.50 per cent and 0.19 per cent, respectively.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index was up 0.39 per cent to 142.16 points.
The northern market index soared 1.65 per cent on Monday.
Nearly 318 million shares were traded on the two exchanges, worth VND5.8 trillion (nearly US$250 million).
