Asian shares fall as Viet Nam posts moderate gains

HA NOI (Biz Hub) ─ Share market prices fell across most of Asia Thursday, but Viet Nam's major stock indices bucked this trend by posting moderate gains.

The VN-Index, in particular, added 3.26 points to close at 632.03 on the HCM City Stock Exchange while the HNX-Index ended 0.9 point higher at 86.97 on the Ha Noi bourse.

In Japan, the Tokyo Stock Exchange Tokyo Price Index lost 5.18 points to close at 1,280.74, and the Nikkei 225 dropped by 74.96 points to end at 15,459.86.

In China, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index closed 13.65 points lower at 2,195.82, and the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index slumped by 177.75 points to close at 24,741.00. Singapore's Straits Times Index also slid 5.47 points to finish at 3,335.99. — VNS
