HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Hang Seng Index rose 156.06 points to end at 23,142.47 in Hong Kong, leading the Asian market on January 17.
On the other side, the Nikkei 225 lost 12.47 points to hit 15,734.46, while the Topix Index also slipped 3 points to close at 1,297.39 in Tokyo. The Shanghai Composite Index closed while down 18.75 points to finish at 2,004.95 on mainland China.
The Straits Times Index edged up 6.89 points to end at 3,147.33 in Singapore, while two bourses in Viet Nam also ended with mixed results. The VN Index rose 10.05 points to reach 543.59 in HCM City, while the HNX Index slipped 0.29 points to end at 72.79 in the capital city.— VNS
