In China, the benchmark Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index (SHCOMP) lost 34.54 points, closing at 1,976.31, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index (HSI) declined 118.80 points to finish at 21,850.15. The Straits Times Index (STI) slipped 0.13 points to end at 3,236.0.
