HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Most of the Asian shares closed downward on August 21. The Nikkei 225 fell below the 20,000 milestone, losing 597.69 points to end at 19,435.83 in Tokyo.
The Hang Seng Index dipped 347.85 points to close at 22,409.62 in Hong Kong, while the Shanghai Composite Index lost 156.55 points to end at 3,507.74 in mainland China. Singapore's Straits Times Index also lost 38.77 points to end at 2,971.01.
In the local market, the VN Index lost 10.39 points to close at 556.3, and the HNX Index fell 0.94 points to close at 77.6. — VNS
