Asian shares close up

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Shares on Viet Nam's Hanoi and HCM City stock markets closed up on Tuesday. The HNX Index rose 0.54 points to 64.07 and the VN Index gained 3.92 points to reach 516.33.

Singapore shares ended higher on Tuesday with the Straits Times Index gaining 14.78 points to close at 3,406.08. 3.34 billion shares valued at S$1.53 billion were traded. Gainers outnumbered losers 318 to 144.

In Tokyo, the benchmark Nikkei 225 index closed up 169.33 points at 14,311.98, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares was up 1.23 per cent, or 14.20 points, at 1,168.27.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 1.23 percent, or 28.24 points, to end at 2,321.32. The Shenzhen Component Index rose 1.96 percent, or 181.06 points, to 9,441.69.— The Straits Times/China Daily/ANN/VNS
