HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Asian markets closed higher on January 12, but the Chinese investors suffered some losses.
The Hang Seng Index increased by 106.51 points to reach 24,026.46 in Hong Kong, while the Straits Times Index gained 6.93 points to end at 3,344.89 in Singapore.
The two bourses in Viet Nam ended higher on the same day. The VN Index added 4.59 points to close at 547.32, but the HNX slipped by 0.93 points to finish at 84.72.
Japan was closed for its Coming of Age Day. Therefore, the Nikkei 225 remained at 17,197.73, and the Topix Index stayed unchanged at 1,380.58 in Tokyo. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Composite Index in mainland China lost 56.10 points to close at 3,229.32. — VNS
