Share prices rise as Japan posts largest gain

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Nikkei 225 jumped by 3.98 per cent, the largest one-day increase in more than a year, as other indices across the Asia-Pacific region posted gains on October 20.

The Japanese index in Tokyo increased by 578.72 points to reach 15,111.23 while the Topix index gained 47.12 points to end at 1,224.34.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index added 47.05 points to reach 23,070.26 while in mainland China, the Shanghai Composite Index gained 15.54 points to close at 2,356.73.

In Singapore, the Straits Times Index increased by 19.13 points to end at 3,186.86.

In Viet Nam, the VN index edged up by 3.96 points to close at 589.24 while the HNX edged down by 0.36 point to finish at 87.27. — VNS
