Asian shares end mixed

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Asian markets, including the two bourses in Viet Nam, ended mixed on Thursday.

The VN index gained 6.24 points to close at 612.94, and the HNX fell 0.05 points to finish at 83.01 in the capital city.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 was up 131.75 points to finish at 15,586.20, marking the ninth day of gains. The Topix Index of all first-section issues climbed 0.90 per cent, or 11.55 points, to end at 1,291.19.

The Hang Seng Index dropped 165.66 points to reach 24,994.1 on a turnover of HK$75.52 billion (US$9.74 billion) in Hong Kong.

The Shanghai Composite Index slid 0.44 per cent, or 9.75 points, to close at 2,230.46 on a turnover of 140.9 billion yuan (US$22.9 billion).

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.14 per cent, or 1.71 points, to land at 1,223.83 on a turnover of 171.3 billion yuan.

The Straits Times Index closed up 0.44 point to reach 3,324.09, while Malaysian shares ended lower on Thursday with the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index slipping 4.08 points to close at 1,874.81. — VNS
