Nikkei index highest in six years

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Nikkei 225 rose 277.49 points to 15,727.12 yesterday, its highest close in almost six years. The Topix Index (TPX) also added 13.96 points to end at 1,261.04 in Tokyo.

The Hang Seng Index (HSI) stayed flat in Hong Kong, slipping 17.26 points to 23,789.09, while the benchmark Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index (SHCOMP) gained 18.30 points to close at 2,219.37 in China.

The Straits Times Index (STI) in Singapore ended 14.31 points to finish at 3,184.0.

The two Vietnamese bourses ended mixed again, with the VN Index losing 0.72 points to end at 507.71 in HCM City and the HNX Index adding 0.09 points to end at 65.28. — VNS
