HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Five hundred outstanding students from leading Vietnamese universities will participate in "Viet Nam Youth to Business Forum 2016" that will be held on January 17, 2016, in Ha Noi.

The event will be jointly organised by AIESEC Viet Nam, a branch of the world's largest international student organisation AIESEC, based in Netherlands, and the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

Viet Nam Youth to Business 2016, to be held with the theme "Be the First Follower," is the seventh event among a series of AIESEC Viet Nam annual events – Viet Nam Youth to Business – being organised since 2012.

This year, the forum will comprise two main activities, which are "Youth to Business Forum" and "Career Fair".

At the forum, Vietnamese students and 20 representative businesses and enterprises will interact to form a multi-generational interactive space for raising ideas, sharing insights and gaining new perspectives to create actionable outcomes and valuable changes for Vietnamese youth and business to move forward.

In Ha Noi, the forum will be held at the Banking Academy in Dong Da District.

Entrepreneurial spirit

According to the largest-ever 2015 Amway Global Entrepreneurship Report (AGER), entitled "Defining the Entrepreneurial Spirit," Viet Nam ranks seventh out of 44 countries surveyed on entrepreneurial spirit around the world.

The report was prepared by the Amway Corporation in collaboration with German university Technische Universitat Munchen (TUM) and market research company Gesellschaft fuer Konsumforschung (GfK).

AGER surveyed nearly 50,000 respondents, aged 14 to 99, in 44 countries. This year's study includes factors such as inquisitive spirit, desire to experience life and taking responsibility for future entrepreneurs.

Accordingly, Viet Nam ranks seventh for entrepreneurial spirit, after Denmark, South Africa, Thailand and the United Kingdom, besides China and India.

According to the report, about 71 per cent of the Vietnamese respondents have a positive attitude towards business start-ups, 89 per cent of them wish to start their own business, 75 per cent think that starting business is viable, and 67 per cent say they are less susceptible to social impacts in their decision to launch a business.

The study also indicates that people 34 years old and younger express the strongest desire to run a start-up business. As the age increases, the desire decreases, but the middle-aged groups (35 to 49) are most confident in running a business because they have the necessary resources and skills.

The research also identifies specific attitudes towards entrepreneurship. Factors related to income and independence are defined as the motivation for entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, the fear of failure remains a major obstacle for more than two-thirds of the respondents.

Amway released its first report on entrepreneurship in 2010. The initial survey focused on the European market. In 2013, the survey was expanded worldwide, encompassing 24 countries. — VNS
