The 20th Craft Village Festival is heading into the digital age.
The festival, which will take place at No 489, Hoàng Quốc Việt Street in Hà Nội from October 3-6 will also be taken on line.
Nguyễn Minh Tiến, Director of the Agricultural Trade Promotion Centre under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, announced at a press conference on Friday, including the timing of the special high tech element.
The festival aims to promote traditional crafts, support artists and artisans and increase trade of products among localities.
This year, the highlight of the festival will be a live stream session on the TikTok channel 'Chợ phiên OCOP' (OCOP Market), from 10am to 1pm on October 4, to sell signature products of each locality.
A discussion will be held among e-commerce experts and key opinion leaders (KOL) on promoting and selling local products on digital platforms.
Artworks and products that took part in previous craft competitions held by the city will be on display and there will be prizes will be awarded.
It is a 1,000s.q-metre area where about 100 booths and stalls will be set up to showcase the crafts, nearly a hundred businesses from 31 provinces and cities have already confirmed their participation.
Artists, artisans and agricultural officers will also have the chance to visit other localities to learn about different products, identify market needs and connect up to create necessary value chains.
Some of the costs of those visits will be covered by the festival’s organisers.
There are about 5,000 active craft villages across the country, with around 2,000 of them recognised by the State, providing jobs for 1.58 million people. — VNS
