HA NOI (Biz Hub) -- A workshop, "Small and medium enterprises- SMEs in Viet Nam and ASEAN market opportunities with the free trade agreements- FTAs", will take place December 4, 2013 in Ha Noi.
The workshop will be held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), in collaboration with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, the Foreign Office, and the Commonwealth of the United Kingdom.
The workshop aims to support businesses, associations, organisations and agencies concerned with learning about the benefits, opportunities and challenges in working in Viet Nam. Further, information will be distributed on how businesses might effectively take advantage of free trade agreements signed with ASEAN and between ASEAN and the six partner's countries of Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, New Zealand and India.
Viet Nam has now implemented the trade liberalisation policies specified in free trade agreements with ASEAN. This creates many opportunities, but also causes numerous difficulties and challenges to Vietnamese businesses, including concerns with nontariff barriers, regulations on quality standards, and origin of exports issues, which will become a particular concern in 2015 when the ASEAN Economic Community is established.
