HA NOI (Biz Hub) — A biennal ceramics trade show featuring the latest machinery, technology and materials for manufacturing whiteware, heavy clay and advanced ceramics will be held in Bangkok in September.

This year's show would be twice as big as the previous event, and was expected to draw both ASEAN members and their trade partners, organisers said yesterday.

Speaking at the event, Vu Quoc Hung, Secretary General of the Viet Nam Building Ceramic Association, said: "The International ASEAN Ceramics Exhibition is an opportunity to expand investment co-operation, transfer technology, purchase materials and equipment, provide services and act as a bridge between manufacturers and distributors between Viet Nam, ASEAN and the world."

Viet Nam's ceramics industry has enjoyed strong development. It produces over 400 million sq.m. of ceramic tiles and 12 million pieces of sanitary ware annually. Viet Nam is consistently ranked in the top 10 largest ceramics producers after China, Spain, Italy and Brazil.

Its current export value is US$400 million per year, with annual sales of over $2 billion. — VNS
