HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Vietnamese firms are set to take part in an international exhibition on animal husbandry and processing of meat, eggs, fish, and milk to be held at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre in March.

VIV Asia 2015 will showcase the latest technologies and equipment in animal husbandry, aquaculture, animal feed, animal health and nutrition, farming and breeding management, slaughtering, meat processing, packaging, handling, refrigeration, egg and dairy processing, and others.

It will also feature conferences on pig breeding technologies, livestock health, bio-gas, milk and meat processing technologies, and others, Ruwan Berculo, project manager of VIV Asia, said.

More than 900 exhibitors from over 50 countries and territories have registered so far for the exhibition, he said.

Speaking at a press conference in HCM City on January 13, Tong Xuan Chinh, deputy head of the Department of Livestock Production, said demand for fisheries products is increasing steadily while marine output is decreasing.

To meet demand, fish supply from aquaculture needs to increase significantly and application of technology to diversify fisheries products is required, he said.

The biennial event covers the entire feed to meat supply chain and offers the Vietnamese livestock and fisheries sectors a great opportunity to find out about the huge advancements made in science and technology, share the knowledge and experience of their foreign counterparts, and find businesses partners, he said.

The event is expected to get around 35,000 visitors, Berculo said, adding that in 2013 it attracted 33,229 visitors from 118 countries. — VNS
