HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Power-saving technology should be better promoted in Viet Nam to secure energy reserves for all business sectors, a Thai government official said at a conference held in HCM City on July 16.

Payomsarit Sripattananon, the deputy director of Alternative Energy Encouragement and Efficiency Department from Provincial Electrical Authority (PEA), Thailand, said Viet Nam should use more LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting.

"Energy-saving technology maximizes business strength and helps companies stand out from the competition," he said.

From August 19-21, PEA in collaboration with Messe Frankfurt GmbH and the Exhibiz Co.Ltd. will hold a Lighting Fair in Bangkok that will be a one-stop site for energy-efficient solutions and an opportunity for businesses in the ASEAN Economic Community to network.

The fair will present the latest lighting technologies related to commercial and industrial lighting, decorative lighting, LED, green lighting, residential lighting and urban lighting.

More than 200 companies from Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, and China will display their products.

Moses Chang, marketing manager of Thailand's TP HALO LED Lighting Co. said the scale of the global market for all LED lighting products was expected to reach $25.65 billion this year.

"With the growing market in LED lighting and advancement of lighting technology, we all know the market for ASEAN will only grow stronger and bigger in the upcoming five to 10 years," he said. —VNS
