YouTube has launched its Shopping Affiliate programme in Việt Nam in partnership with Shopee.

It will enable creators to earn commissions by promoting products in their videos and driving sales.

Viewers can start shopping while watching content from creators.

Việt Nam is one of the six countries globally and three in Southeast Asia where YouTube Shopping is currently available, the others being the US, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, and India.

Eligible creators can register to join the programme and tag products sold on Shopee in their content.

Việt Nam's digital economy is projected to reach US$45 billion in gross merhandise value by 2025, according to the latest eConomy SEA Report by Google, Temasek and Bain.

E-commerce continues to be a driving force in the country's digital economy, with projected growth of 22 per cent from 2023 to 2025 to reach $24 billion GMV in 2025.

In 2023 alone, people around the world watched over 30 billion hours of shopping-related videos on YouTube, underscoring its potential to drive commerce and support businesses.

“With the launch of the YouTube Shopping Affiliate programme in Việt Nam, we are excited to see how Vietnamese creators will leverage this new feature to engage with their fans, showcase new products and unlock new revenue streams. By empowering creators and fueling the growth of e-commerce, we aim to contribute to the development of Việt Nam's digital economy.”
