Second quarter sales in Viet Nam rose by 60 per cent year-on-year, Chinese mobile phone and technology giant Xiaomi said.

It attributed the success to the support of the MiFan community, which now numbers 206,000 in the country, and one million followers in social media.

But it has also been consistently launching new products in the market.

On Monday it launched three new mobile phones in various segments, the MI 9T, MI A3 and Redmi 7A.

The MI 9T, the latest addition to its popular MI 9 flagship series, has a 6.39-inch full screen AMOLED display, a massive 4000 mAh battery and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chip.

The company has doubled down on performance with the new Game Turbo 2.0 by optimising the touch response, display, sound quality, and network and in-game calls.

The 6GB RAM, 64GB ROM version will be sold at VND8.49 million (US$372), while the 6GB RAM, 128GB ROM version will be at FPT Shop at VND9.49 million ($416).

The A3 claims a 48MP triple camera, in screen fingerprint sensor, updated design and huge 4030 mAh battery.

The MI A3 will be available at FPT Shop from August 15 for VND5.99 million ($262). The first 1,000 customers pre-ordering it between July 29 and August 6 will receive an Mi Band 3 and a chance to pay in instalments.

The Redmi, a complete upgrade from its predecessor, the 6A has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chip, a larger 4000mAh battery, an improved design, a 5.45” HD+ full screen display, a faster 10W charger, improved speakers, splash resistance, and an FM radio.

The 2GB, 16GB ROM version will be sold at VND2.39 million ($104) on Tiki.vn.

Quickest into Fortune 500

Xiaomi recently said it became the youngest company in the Fortune Global 500, entering it within nine years of its incorporation.

With revenues of $26.44 billion and a net profit of $2.05 billion last year, the company debuted in 468th place.

It ranked seventh in the Internet Services and Retailing category. — VNS
