The Viet Nam-USA Society English Centers (VUS) in HCM City will donate 20.65 tonnes of rice to disadvantaged households and individuals affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The rice donation was part of the VUS programme Quan tam se chia (Care & Share) in which 103,250 people played a game answering questions. Each score was converted into a rice donation. The online programme attracted students, teachers and staff of VUS centres throughout the country.

Le Quang Thuc Quynh, CEO of VUS, said: "Through the programme, VUS hopes to spread the best values of education to community: responsibility and love."

Since August, VUS has held free classes called English For Everyone.

It will organise free online conferences on mental health for teenagers and their parents this month.

VUS has also donated eight high-flow nasal cannula ventilators and 5,000 sets of level-4 medical protective clothing to four hospitals treating COVID-19 patients in the city. — VNS
