Viet Nam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank) and its subsidiary Fe Credit will contribute VND15 billion (US$646,500) to the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The donation would be collected by the State Bank of Viet Nam and come to the Viet Nam Fatherland Front’s central committee and other relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Health, to increase measures to prevent and fight the global pandemic.
As the COVID-19 pandemic was having negative impacts on a wide range of sectors, VPBank from the beginning of the outbreak acted to support its customers to overcome the difficult time.
In early February, VPBank announced a support package with preferential interest rates of 1-1.5 per cent per year for small and medium sized enterprises who were suffering the most from the pandemic, like those operating in tourism, transportation, restaurant and catering services.
VPBank was also actively working with its customers to evaluate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic to raise measures to overcome difficulties.
The bank also encouraged its customers to move online, providing fee reductions for transactions conducted via the VPBank Online app.
VPBank expected that its contribution would help to fight against the pandemic and bring socio-economic activities back on track early. — VNS
