Vietnam Airlines has stopped using Airbus A330 aircraft, replacing them entirely with the new-generation aircraft Boeing 787 and Airbus A350.

The airline said that the new aircraft, which have been in use since 2015, have helped save fuel and maintenance costs, reducing by 20-25 per cent of emissions.

This upgrade has helped Vietnam Airlines become one of airlines with the youngest and most modern fleets in the region. It will be an important factor helping the firm become a five-star airline after 2020 and a digital airline with advanced technologies and sustainable development.

Joining Vietnam Airlines since 2006, the Airbus A330 fleet ran nearly 96,000 flights over the past 13 years of operation in Viet Nam, safely transporting nearly 20 million passengers. This is one of the ‘main wings’ of Vietnam Airlines on mid-range routes such as between Ha Noi - HCM City, Ha Noi/HCM City – Da Nang, Ha Noi - Nha Trang/Phu Quoc and 15 international routes to Europe, Australia, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia. — VNS
