Vietnam Airlines will open two new routes connecting Vinh City in the central province of Nghe An with Phu Quoc Island in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang and Nha Trang City in central Khanh Hoa Province this month.

The new routes aim to meet increasing travel demand during the summer holidays and help boost domestic tourism in the post-COVID-19 period, the national flag carrier said in a statement.

The airline will offer four round-trip flights on the Vinh-Phu Quoc route every week on Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays and Sundays, starting from June 12, while offering three round-trip flights a week on the Vinh-Nha Trang route on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from June 22.

The carrier is also selling 6,666 tickets priced from VND66,000 (US$2.8) each one-way, equivalent to VND543,000 ($23) including taxes and fees.

With the two new routes, Vietnam Airlines has launched 13 new domestic flights in May and June, raising its total to 54.

The carrier added it has fully recovered all of its domestic routes with about 300 flights each day.

To prevent transmission of the coronavirus, Vietnam Airlines conducts daily disinfection of all its operating aircraft and screens passengers’ health at airports in line with regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam.

All passengers are required to wear face masks during their journeys, while crews are also equipped with face masks and gloves. — VNS
