Two more 'made-in-Viet Nam' SARS-CoV-2 test kits meeting international standards were announced at a ceremony in Ha Noi on Friday.

The test kits, One-step RT-PCR COVID-19 KIT THAI DUONG and RT-LAMP COVID-19 KIT THAI DUONG, were created by Vietnamese scientists from the National Institute for Control of Vaccine and Biologicals and Ha Noi University of Science and Technology.

Both kids are manufactured by Thai Duong (SunStar JSC) and have received market authorisation in the EU.

At the launching ceremony, sales director Tuan Le of TradingFoe, a Nordic business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce platform, signed an agreement with Deputy General Director of the SunStar JSC Nguyen Thi Huong Lien to distribute the test kits in Europe.

The company donated 1,000 test kits to the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisation to distribute to needy countries.

Tran Van Tung, deputy minister of Science and Technology, said the new test kits had high accuracy, a wide application and were rapid and simple to use.

The kits cut four hours off the testing process and can be used in local and field hospitals as positive specimens are detectable by the naked eye based on the colour change of the reaction.

“I congratulate the scientists and SunStar JSC with the success of the test kits.

"The pandemic situation is still complicated in many countries so I encourage exporting the kits to the international market,” he said. — VNS
