HA NOI (Biz Hub) – The Thai Goods Week officially opened in Ha Noi on August 18 with nearly 100 stalls.

On display are food, beverages, household appliances, apparel, jewellery, cosmetics, automobile and motorbike spare parts, souvenirs, décor, and electrical and aviation equipment.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Commercial Counsellor from the Thai embassy Ponpimon Petcharakul said the event not only brings quality goods to Vietnamese consumers but also allows Vietnamese firms a chance to introduce their products to Thai businesses.

This year, Thailand's Office of Overseas Trade Promotion in Hanoi asked the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency to consider helping Vietnamese businesses attend the Bangkok Gems and Jewellery Fair slated from September 7 to September 11 by paying the rent for 10 stalls at the event.

Nguyễn Phúc Nam, deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade's Asia-Pacific Department, said two-way trade between Việt Nam and Thailand grew 8.3 per cent last year and 5 per cent in the first half of this year.

Thailand is currently Việt Nam's largest trade partner in ASEAN, while Viet Nam is the fourth largest trade partner of Thailand in the bloc.

The goods fair, as part of the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, will continue till Sunday, August 21. – VNS
